A perfect place to unwind and discover the pleasures of Snowdonia National Park, Gesail is a secret hideaway at the top of the Cywarch Valley. You will find enchanting walks, climbs, rare birds, riding, canoeing, swimming and fishing nearby. The land contains woodland, streams, waterfalls and a mountain with the highest lake in Wales at the summit - if you can find it! The stars in the night sky can be amazingly bright and clear. Make sure you take your telescope or binoculars!
Gesail is wonderful for children, who can build dams, make camps or play games and cook sausages by the fire. We also have forest school workshops available for any young people who would like to unleash their creativity in this stunning setting. By popular request there is no TV or phone, giving the sense of a real retreat. There is internet and reception for mobiles at the Red Lion in Dinas Mawddwy.
You will need a cross a ford to reach Gesail which is not suitable for sports cars.
Things to Do
The Dolgellau estuary, Cader Idris, Lake Vyrnwy, Portmeirion, Harlech castle and Dovey Valley Activity Centre are all within an easy drive.There are also spectacular beaches, pony trekking, village shows and sheepdog trials nearby. Alternatively you can just listen to streams and birdsong!
In Machynlleth you will find exhibitions and concerts at the local arts centre as well as the world famous Centre for Alternative Technology. There is a good market on Wednesdays.
